24/7 NURSING

Duvall Home provides nursing services twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. We have a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, two Charge Nurses and a staff of fifteen nurses providing medication and direct care. Our nurses are trained to observe residents and provide crisis intervention. They are kept up to date with current nursing techniques using the Internet, in-services, staff meetings and various seminars. They have to undergo individual competencies to renew their practicing license every two years. We are members of DDNA (Developmental Disability Nursing Association), and four of our nurses will be certified in this field during the 2012 calendar year.

DENTAL CLINIC

The Duvall Home offers an on campus Dental Clinic. Having the clinic on campus makes it much easier on our residents as it offers a controlled and familiar environment, which helps to reduce the anxiety, that some of our residents may experience when it comes to having dental care. We have two dentists that take time out from their own practice to come to the home several times a month. Our clinic is equipped with two procedure chairs and auto clave sterilization system.

DIETARY

The Duvall Home's dietary team consists of twelve members, more than half of which have been here fifteen years or more. Most of them have seen our residents grow up! Jessica Laschance holds the position as Certified Dietary Manager. She works closely with a licensed dietician who oversees and approves every decision made by the department in order to achieve the very best for Duvall residents.

Recently the menu has been enhanced not only to promote a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition but also to offer a wider variety of delicious meals.

Some residents require unique dietary needs. At the Duvall Home we are able to meet the most unique diet orders ranging from gluten free, to low cholesterol, to PKU. Any dietary need can be met including religious or cultural preferences. Food can be chopped, ground, or pureed to meet the individual digestive needs of any resident.

The Duvall Home Staff is also served the same menu as the residents. The lunch menu is followed throughout the facility. Our Dietary Manager's motto is, "I won't serve anything I wouldn't eat myself!"
